Microsoft Goes for the Bank, Google Goes for the Buzz?

No sooner is it announced that Microsoft has spent a massive $6 billion dollars to acquire ad company aQuantive - in an effort to compete with Google - do the rumors start flying that Google is going to purchase Feedburner in what would no doubt be a much smaller though potentially more Internet buzz-worthy deal.

As others are pointing out, Feedburner does seem like a great purchase for Google; one that not only could expand Analytics but also potentially AdSense as well. RSS feed are absolutely exploding as a way in which people read content and though Google has had a pilot program to run ads in feeds, Feedburner seems to have a much more robust system at this point.

In the post-Cold War world who says there isn't an arms race anymore?...

[UPDATE]: Valleywag is reporting a Google/Feedburner deal could be for somewhere around $100 million - so just a tiny fraction of Microsoft's aQuantive deal.
